Acer microsoft office starter 2010 free. How do I re-install Office Starter (now that the old way to do it doesn't work anymore)

I had it stop working a week or two ago and I somehow fixed it but now it's gone again and none of the icons for the program will bring the program up. Microsoft's site asks for the 25 digit code and when entered from my acer laptop they direct me to acer. There has to be an easier way to reload software that was free.
Was there ever a resolution to this?? I have windows 10 and it would be nice if when people gave you directions that actually applied to the OS one is using. So often half way through some explanation there isn't anything like what is being described to open or click on. If Office was preinstalled by the computer manufacturer, you will have to follow the manufacturer's directions for reinstalling.
